OH IT'S ON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - Round seven of the Southern Hemisphere's greatest six-a-side tournament is on. Unless an act of God intervenes, i.e. rain , games will go ahead as scheduled. Please check again at 4pm today to see if there are any updates

 

November 18th

All Round Six games rescheduled for tonight have been CANCELLED due to the wet weather.  Round 7 games will commence this Thursday as per the draw.  Any queries contact Scott on 0439 226 265 or email scottkrueger@yahoo.com . November 13th

All Round Six (Thursday 13 November 2008) games for Summer 6s have been called off due to the wet weather.  Round 6 games are now rescheduled for Tuesday 18th November 2008.  Any queries contact Scott on 0439 226 265 or email scottkrueger@yahoo.com

October 8th

Bribes and corruption was the talk of the aftermath of round 5 game between The Exiles and the Bullfrogs. One certain Bullfrogs player came under scrutiny for missing over 10 shots at goal including a dottie and it was thought that he could have been paid off to ensure those who bet on the game would receive a handsome return. After thorough investigation it was deemed that the player in question could quite easily miss that many and investigators were even surprised he was in a postion to shoot that many. Inspector Barnett commented on behalf of Taskforce Sixes "All charges relating to this matter is now closed. The player in question does not have the skill to miss goals on purpose. The matter is now closed.

In other news the race for sharp shooter in the women is hotting up. Razorbacks Sophie Towner and Byron Bay Noodle Box Abigail Allardyce are neck and neck on 21 goals each. In the mens Tom Ruhl has opened up a 5 goal buffer against The Magical Liopluredons Sam Owens and John Bradbury.

Two players who scorched the scorecards last round were Sophie Butler (7 goals - Pink Flamingos) and Nick Enter (6 goals - Machas Boyz).

The matches of the round were a bit of an each way bet. A tight tussle between previously undefeated Miserable Gits and Debt Collector$. Debt Collector$ collected the points through goals to their young whippersnappers Oli Kohlenberg and Gavin Tinning edging out the 'Gits 2 - 1. Flight Centre continued their undefeated run smashing Karma 5 - 1 with Dani Hoskin bagging a hatrick.

There is only one game of the week and that is Seattle Sharks who finally were scored against last week taking on another young gun side in Ratpack (6pm Field 5). Expect plenty of petty whinging and skirt pulling.

October 31st

The perfect conditions in Bangalow made the football flow during round 4 of the 2008 Bangalow Hotel Summer Sixes Competition. Congratulations to Roar who had their first win of the season in the womens match of the round with a 8 - 1 win over the Yummy Mummys. the mens lived up to a corker with a 3 all draw between Ratpack and Menace 2 Sobriety.

There were plenty of goals on offer with Abagail Alardyce (Byron Bay Noodle Box Women) smashing in 7 goals against the Knockeroos whilst Mia Frappell (Karma), Christy Hopley (Byron Bay Noodle Box Women) and Sophie Towner (The Razorbacks) all netting 6 goals a piece. Sam Owens and John Bradbury from The Magical Liopluredons both rattled the back net 5 times each during their 15 - 3 demolition of Chefs FC.

Another delicacy is on offer with the BBQ boys selling Brunch Bars for that little bit of extra energy before the game.

For those that come on Tuesday night to practice, please note the goals are being locked up as it is a Council requirement. Apologies but it is beyond our control and as Council allow us use of the fields we have to abide by their rules.

We will have a few going south for the Melbourne Cup and thus missing Round 5. As Summer 6's has sponsored Race 4 on Cup Day. Tip for the Melbourne Cup. Zipping - put $500 on the nose. Tip for Summer 6's - Try the kebabs at the canteen.

October 24th

A interesting night of football with 9 teams failing to bother the scorers. Some big wins with the Seattle Sharks wiping the floor clean against the Bay City Brawlers 14 - 0. Joel Rudgley (Pirates) and Martin Chatterton (Byron Bay Noodle Box Men) must have been cherry picking with 5 goals respectively.

Thanks to Fertile FC who assisted in bringing the goals off the field. We have also had a couple of teams who are playing unregistered players please note that if caught your team will face a loss of points for that game. A second infringement will result in the team being suspended from the finals matches.

A few accidents have occurred over the past couple of weeks with a broken ankle and arm. Please note our insurance page as we cover public liability insurance and limited personal insurance. We advise you take out your own private health insurance in the case of an unfortunate accident whilst playing in Summer Sixes.

The BBQ boys (and this time had some female talent to assist) have stepped it up again. The Chocolate and Macadamia Cake is on sale. Not only have they introduced the kebabs and rissoles, those with a sweet tooth can sample a BBQ boys chocolate delicacy.

October 17th

Just like the Socceroos the previous night, the finely tuned athletes who participate in the 2008 Bangalow Hotel Summer 6s took to the Suncorp Stadium like cauldron of the Bangalow Sports Fields to contest their individual quest for one of footballs greatest achievements - the chance to become a Summer 6s Champion.

Some tight battles have commenced with our first draws of the competition in both the mens and womens whilst there was as usual the odd blow out.

Tom Ruhl has taken a 4 goal lead in the Mens Sharp Shooters already whilst current womens champion Rose Argent is starting slowly coming in at 76th on the ladder at present.

Once again can players and spectators please ensure they pick their rubbish up before leaving.

Please note that on tuesday night there are some players using the 6 a side goals for practice matches. Whilst we are happy for this to continue, the goals must be placed back off the fields as the fields are mowed every week. Failure to do so will result in the goals being locked up and not able to be used.

Match of Round Three - 8pm Field 8 Bite Me v The Razorbacks - top of the table. Also expect some blowouts - The Magical Liopleurodens are taking on Festa FC and Seattle Sharks are up against Bay City Brawlers - Ouch!

October 10th

Did you feel it? The chills down the spine, hairs raised on the back of the neck as you saw the light glow and the fields teeming with people wanting to kick a leather ball into the back of a net. The 2008 Bangalow Hotel Summer 6s Competitions first round saw 24 games, 1 forfeit, 180 goals and 8 million sausage sandwiches consumed.

Intrepid Reporter Sonia Krueger reports that not only is there classy footwark from the players but also the team strips have stepped up a level. Even the refs are looking professional.

Like all first weeks there are a few things team must take into account.

1. All teams are to pick up their matchcards, fill out in full including first names and give to the ref prior to their match.

2. Managers must ensure all players on their team must have the same team shirt and different numbers. All players must wear shinpads ands football boots.

3. We have had a couple of issues with some players consuming alcohol prior to and during games. Please note referees have been advised that any person suspected of playing whilst under the influence of alcohol or other prohibitive substances are not allowed to take the field. The players names and numbers will be noted and if a second incident occurs, the player/s will be suspended for the rest of the competition. This practice is not acceptable.

4. Rubbish, Rubbish, Rubbish - Please place your rubbish in the bins provided. If you are not near one, please take your rubbish up to the bins near the canteen. Whilst we are happy to run a football competition for your enjoyment, we are not happy to pick up all the rubbish that is left behind.

5. And the final request is that if you are the last game, please try and assist the volunteers by pulling a goal off the field, many hands make light work.

The 2008 Bangalow Hotel Summer Sixes is underway. The draw is up and featuring 28 mens teams 20 womens teams, 8 fields, players are coming from far and near including the Gold Coast and Tenterfield.

We have had such a huge response to this years competition. The Bangalow Hotel have again come on board offering up weekly vouchers to teams.
Special thanks to Paz and Glaz for their efforts, Matt Rafton for the goals, Saul for the website and refs shirts, Hock for getting the lights up, the Byron Shire Council, Bangalow Sports Association and Barney for the surveying of the fields and our referees.

SUMMER SIXES SELLS OUT!!!!!! - ONE MORE TEAM REQUIRED FOR NEW FIELD.

In record time the 42 spots for the 2008 Bangalow Hotel Summer Sixes have been taken. We have 5 other teams wanting to play and we are currently organising another field. For this to occur however we need one more woman's team to register. There are 4 days left. First in with their money and rego form completely filled out will be on their way to glory. An unprecedented 28 mens and 19 womens teams have already booked their place to compete in the greatest 6 a side competition in the southern hemisphere.

IT"S BACK! The southern hemisphere's greatest six a side competition is heating up for 2008. The 2008 Summer Sixes Competition will be held from the 9th of October 2008. Unlike everything else in this world, Summer 6's team fees have not increased, with prices staying the same as 2005. Nominations are required to be in by the 3rd of October 2008.
Early Bird fees close 26th September 2008. Please note that for the last 2 years, we have had to turn teams away. Entry is first in first served. This means payment and completely filled out team nomination form must be received.

Wet Weather

Competition will be decided at no later than 5pm the day of the games.
Please contact either Scott on 0439 226 265 or Paul on 0422 827 338. We will not be responsible for letting teams know. It is up to you to let your players know if games have been cancelled.

All games called off will be played the following Tuesday unless changed by management. If games are not able to be played the following Tuesday due to wet weather, then the round will be cancelled and all games not counted.

Insurance

In order to keep costs to our participants at a minimum, we have sought personal accident insurance that covers only serious accident and death.
It is recommended that Private Health Insurance be obtained by each individual to cover injuries sustained that are not covered under our current insurance policy. Please note that if we did seek additional coverage of this nature, it would at least double the current fees.

Uniforms

All shirts must be the same with a number required on the back. Shin pads must be worn by each player.
