SUNDAY DECEMBER 9

Finals week is here.  Better than ever.  In Division One Mens The Pirates will take on Byron Bay whilst in the womens Go Team will play Knockrow Ninjas.

In Division 2 Mens, Disrobe will play The Matildas whilst in the Womens, Flight Centre will be looking to defeat Ramdogs.

In Division 3 Mens, the Desh and Myocardial Infarcts will fight it out whilst in the Womens, Twisted Sisters will be looking to overcome Clunes Comets.

Please note the changes in the game times, we have 6pm, 6:45pm and 7:30pm.  All games that are not a division final will have 15 minutes halves.  There will also be no drop off if a draw occurs.

Some major activities will also be happening on the night - free sausage sangas for all players (see Barney at the canteen for your teams tickets), a jumping castle for the kids and Santa is paying a visit with some special friends.

The finals presentation will be at the Bangalow Hotel at 8:30pm.  All are welcome including children.  There is plenty of prizes to give away including the usual sharp shooters and players of the year.  also to be given away is a $100 order to the Bangalow Hotel.  A DJ is also there for those who want to continue on and celebrate hard core.

Finally, apologies for last weeks mistakes on the website.

Good Luck.

MONDAY DECEMBER 3

An amazing nights play for week one of the finals campaign.  In the womens things mostly went to plan with Go Team and Jailbirds getting through to the semis as winners whilst Thirsty won over Blue Steel to keep their dreams alive.  In the lower grades it was great to see Kewell Kats and Results win another game - the silverware is gleaming girls.

A couple of surprises for Div 1 mens.  Byron Bay won over a schoolies depleted Utah Wildcats whilst For the Win also lost against CS Easy Tiger.  The Desh managed their first win of the season (amazingly half of their team managed to overcome injuries just in time for the
finals) and in the game of the week, after 20 minutes of golden goal Pelican Brief edged out Zepplins 2 - 1.

Tommy Ruhl has put his nose in front in the mens sharpshooters whilst Rose Argent has a 2 goal lead ahead of fellow Go Teamer Chloe Dunsmore.

Good luck to all teams!

FRIDAY NOVEMBER 23

The regular competition is over and the finals campaign is about to begin. Only three weeks left until we find out who are the champions of champions for 2007. Congratulations to GO Team and Pirates for going through the seven rounds undefeated. Amazingly Go Teams average winning margin was over 10 goals per game with only 2 teams (Thirsty and Kinky Boots) keeping them to single figures. All womens teams also managed at least one win which was great to see from those who have just begun their football experience.

In the men's comp it seems to be a three horse race with Utah Wildcats, For the Win and The Pirates seemingly a cut above the rest. Mick Lowenstein (aka Juice) after getting flogged by Utah Wildcats in Round seven has predicted them to win the competition. " They didn't even break a sweat" Juice whispered through his respirator.

Special thanks this week must go to CS Easy Tiger. Despite having 8pm games every week (you now know the reason) the boys still manage to drag at least one goal off the field. However from what eye in the air reporter Sonya Krueger heard they were too scared to go into the carpark after the game and required security to escort them home after a spiteful game against Disrobe.

Check out the draw page for your times for next week. Any queries send an email to info@summer6s.org.au

FRIDAY NOVEMBER 16

A topsy turvy night of champagne football was again apparent at the Bangalow Sports Grounds for round six of the Bangalow Hotel Summer 6's competition. For the first time in history there were two scoreless draws, a lovers tiff between a couple of Miserable Gits and our first suspension of the year.

Congratulations to Part Timers and Results for their first wins of the year. Part timers trounced Zepplins 8 - 3 whilst Results in their first year of competition narrowly edged out Byron Bandidas 3 - 2. Well Done Teams!

Stop the press!!!! Not just one scoreless draw but two! Twisted Sisters held Watch out. The goal scoring run of Joy Crouch has come to an end. Watch are sliding back dow nthe ladder after jumping out of the blocks. A tough encounter also between Blue Steel and Ramdogs with no team taking the ascendency. Thirstys win over Flight Centre keeps them just in front of Kinky Boots in Pool B whilst Kewell Kats after 2 undefeated weeks got smashed by GO team 17 - 0.

In the mens CS Easy Tiger has also felt the pain of back to back losses with a 2 - 5 loss to 85% Cocoa. Mark Free continues to slide down the sharp shooters ladder with even fellow team mate and cherrypicker Andy Woods edging in front. Rusty Trombones surprise win over Pinquo sees them leapfrog the Banaglow Bullfrogs and Pinquo into 3rd spot in Pool B whilst the Pirates continue their unbeaten run with a convincing victory over the MOtildas.

Last round next week means placings and goal difference will decide what grade you will be put into for the finals campaign. Good Luck.

FRIDAY NOVEMBER 9

The weather gods shined on the 2007 Bangalow Hotel Summer 6's with the threatening rain failing to fall throughout the day and also during the games. A bit of mud and long grass was still apparent however some beautiful chicken satay kebabs from the canteen kept the cold at bay.

KEWELL KATS, KEWELL KATS, KEWELL KATS!!!! After a season and a half Kewell Kats have mustered up their first win of Summer 6's with a 3 - 2 win over Results. A fantastic game by both teams. Congratulations Girls! In other womens results Anna Hutcho and her team the Ramdogs got the better older sister Kate Hutcho 5 - 4 with Anna slotting 3 goals and Clunes Comets kept Watch to a 2 - 2 draw. Amaxingly the Joy crouch experiment of coming out from between the posts is still working with another goal to the Bangalow 4th grade captain.

The old men of Byron Bay got off their walkers and trounced the young pups Gene Genies 13 - 0 whilst in the mens game of the week CS Easy Tiger found the grass a little too long for their liking and conceded a 3 - 0 loss to Utah Wildcats. Not only did they lose but both cherry pickers for the team, Andy Woods and Mark Free failed to score and have lost their grip on the Sharp Shooter Golden Boot after both Martin Chatterton and Tom Ruhl squeezed past then with commanding performances.

With half the season down and out teams have conceded a total of 745 goals in 104 games. Matches to watch ofr Round 6 include Zepplins v Part Timers with both teams searching for their first win and Kinky Boots v Pink Flamingos. A win to the flamingos will see them leapfrog over Kinky Boots. Can Kinky Boots restrict scoring sensation Mandy Carney? Is it true that Kinky Boots player Tamara Hosking went to England to trial for a professional team? Imagine giving up Summer 6's for a trial overseas, unheard of. Good to see Rose Argent respond to the website disbelief that she is not on top of the sharp shooters list. A lazy 4 goals puts her back on top.

Please note another team has been deducted points for fielding an unregistered player. Please ensure all player in your team are noted on your registration sheet. No more players are able to join the competition and compete in the finals.

FRIDAY NOVEMBER 2

Lost your set of clothes, glasses, shinpads, keeper gloves, boyfriend? Pop in and see Barney and the rest of the Bluedog BBQ team to see if your missing item may be in the lost and found box.

You will notice on the results and league tables that The Matildas have changed their name to The MOtildas. This is in aid of Movember in which all of the boys are letting their mo's grow to increase the awareness of mens health issues. The boys are looking for your support and will have a collection tin up at the canteen. Good onya fellas!!!!! Intrepid Reporter Sonya Krueger loves hair on a man and hopes that Pratty will let her assist shaving it all off as she needs new carpet due to the storms at Dunoon damaging her beachside cottage. Sonya also heard Rudge is prepared to shave the hair on his back. He first requires $1 for every hair. Unfortunately even Gerry Harvey could not come up with 2 billion dollars.

Round 4 Games of the week - GO Team v Thirsty - GO Team held out Thirsty in an exciting clash. However controversy is afoot. Rose Argent did not score. How is this possible? Did she not play? Was she goalie for the whole game (even if that were so we still reckon she would have scored). Did she place a bet on herself to not score and thus make a motsa? (Betting agent Marcos Freeman noted a certain Carlos A. placed a 10,000 rupee bet on it happening with the odds of 150 - 1).

In the mens comp, Ratpack easily trounced Pelican Brief 6 - 1. From the word at the canteen, Pelican Briefs top scorer (and only mind you) Steve Bensley has been offered a free satay chicken and rice to pull a hammie next game by top of the table For the Win. Expect fireworks in this game... and plenty of goals.

Another big question to answer. Is Andy Woods cherrypicking? Another 4 goal haul. Methinks the run cometh to an end this week against Utah Wildcats. Unless the Utah Wildcats HSC's are all over and they have all gone to Bali, Millsy's and Co. should run over the top of the 40somethings. This is the Mens Game of the Week.

For the Womens Game of the Week is it sister against sister with Kate Hutcho (Harry Highpanters) going toe to toe with younger sister Anna (Ramdogs). In any other week yes, but this week is special. Kewell Kats are playing Results. This will be a game to watch. The blood, sweat and tears will certainly flow at 8pm on field 6. A chance for both teams to grab their first win. A chance for Annie Lewis's team to go undefeated for 2 games in a row for the first time. A chance for the winning team to step into the unknown, grab glory by it's throat and dance a jig. ......... I predict a draw.

Finally, another reminder - any person caught playing for another team will be suspended for one game and the teams game for that round will result in a forfeit.

FRIDAY OCTOBER 26 2007

Another huge night of classic football occured down at the Bangalow Sports Grounds for Round 3 of the Bangalow Hotel Summer 6's Competition.  In the womens Marcos Freemans prediction of Blue Steel to continue their winning run piled on the pressure and they cracked with Watch winning the tight contest 2 - 1.  In the other match of the round the pressure also told on The Desh in their game against Too Easy.  Despite continual notifications, The Desh utilised the services of a player under the required age limit and subsequently forfeited the match.  The Desh have also lost all points gained for the season up to Round 3 due to this indescretion.  Please note any teams who also have underage players will experience the same penalty.

Some amazing stories for round 3.  Mandy Carney smashed in 8 goals in her first  game for Pink flamingos whilst Martin Chatterton scored 6 for Byron Bay.

Please note match cards must be fully filled out, signed and given to the ref prior to play.  If you do not have 6 players, you can still play with 4 or 5.  Utilising another player from another team will result in a forfeit.  We are happy for the game to go ahead however it will result in a 3 - 0 loss.

Mr BBQ's games of the week - GO Team v Thirsty & Pelican Brief v Ratpack.  Betting agent Marcos Freeman predicts a close game between GO Team and Thirsty with the result coming down to the wire.  Pelican Brief v Ratpack on the other hand should be a caining with Pelican Brief's speed, agility and all round superior fitness and ability to trounce Ratpack's toturous slow boring style of hacky sack.

If you have any photos or entertaining stories please email them to info@summer6s.org.au

FRIDAY OCTOBER 19 2007

Round 2 of the 2007 Bangalow Hotel Summer 6's brought about a couple of surprises, one of them being 85% Cocoa's 2 - 1 defeat of Utah Wildcats. Obviously Callum Prior's lucky pants failed to conjure up a win, with the winner from Russell Barker coming in the final seconds.

In other games Ratpack slayed Myocardial Infarcts whilst 2 minutes of brilliance and 3 goals from Brent Hosking saved Banaglow Bullfrogs from their first loss of the season. CS Easy Tiger continued it's march towards the Holy Grail with a 15 - 4 drubbing of The Desh despite the poaching of former top scorer Aaryn Frereisch to another team (obviously that was a positive in team morale), whilst Bang Thai banged 10 goals past a hapless Part Timers.

In the women's Blue Steel came out convincing winners over Knockrow Ninjas 3 - 0, Watch came out of the starting blocks defeating wags 7 - 2 and low and behold Joy Crouch scored in back to back games, soon she will be wanting out on the field during the regular season. Results managed their first goals of their campaign slotting 2 past Go Team in response to the 13 scored by Rose Argent and Co.

After seeing the teams in Round 1, resident betting agent Marcos Freeman has suspended betting on the winner due to player transfers and signings into round 2. For the Win have decided to sack all their players and turn up with their number 2 team including John Bradbury, Shaun Packham and Chris Cranmer. Luckily this occurred inside the official transfer period however Freeman believes the fee was in excess of 5 suasage sandwiches from Bluedog BBQ's.

Round 3 games of the week are plenty with the BBQ boys thinking The Desh will edge out Too Easy and Blue Steel will continue it's winning ways over Watch. Thanks to those who move the goals off the fields at the end of the night. We REALLY appreciate it. Please remember to pick up your rubbish. Check out the photos page, we will try and get all teams up at some stage. Remember all teams must have shirts and numbers this week or the game is a forfeit.

MONDAY OCTOBER 15 2007

Womens Pool B draw changed.  All seven rounds.  Mistakes were made in doing up the draw for the following teams  - Belladonnas, Byron Bandidas, Flight Centre, GO Team, Jailbirds, Kewell Kats, Kinky Boots, Pink Flamingos, Results & Thirsty.

Please note your changes to all rounds.  Apologies for the mistake and thanks to Jackie from Pink Flamingos for picking it up.

FRIDAY OCTOBER 12 2007

A massive night for Round One of the 2007 Bangalow Hotel Summer Sixes.  21 Games, 182 Goals and fun hopefully had by all.  The night started out with some high scoring games with Utah Wildcats living up to their favouritism tag with a 21 - 0 thrashing of Too Easy.... and that they were.  Other notable mentions in the mens are the 14 - 0 win by The Matildas over Zepplins and Rusty Trombones 9 - 0 win over Chefs FC.

In the womens  GO Team (without the newly engaged Jenna Monro) took easy care of Belladonnas 13- 0, Knockrow Ninjas slashed apart wags 11 - 0 Thirsty let one goal in during their 12 - 1 romp over Pink Flamingos whilst Kinky Boots got the result over newly formed Results 10 - 0.

On the goal scoring side, Knockrow Ninjas Sophie Towner leads by one goal (6) over Kinky boots Vikki Flick (5).  Amazingly in her four years of playing Summer Sixes, Vikki has not scored before.  Well Done Vik!

In the mens Marcello (Mary) Panebianco from Rusty Trombones leads with 6 goals but has 4 Utah Wildcats knocking on his door.

A small bit of housekeeping.  All players must wear football boots and shin pads.  Correct uniform must be worn.  If all players do not have correct uniform, a one goal penalty will be issued to your team this week.

We will also be scrutinising teams for underage players.  Those teams caught playing with underage players will be disqualified from competing in the competition.

Congratulations to Byron Bandidas for winning the Round One $50 voucher to be spent at the Bangalow Hotel over the coming week.

Finally there is a rumour that a Men of Sixes calendar is being produced in order to promote the greatest six a side competition in the southern hemisphere.  Tom Inoue and Nick Rudgely have both denied their involvement saying that the photos were for personal use only.

If you have any photos (whether they be Men of Sixes quality or just a shot of general play or your team) that you would like to post on the website, please forward them to info@summer6s.org.au

MONDAY OCTOBER 8

The new season of 2007 Bangalow Hotel Summer Sixes is underway!  The draw is now up and shows all seven rounds of regular competition.  The womens comp is made up of 2 pools, one with 8 teams the other with 10 teams meaning in that pool not all teams will play each other.  In the mens there are 3 pools of 8 teams.

Again despite putting on another field and thus allowing 6 additional teams into the competition, 5 teams have had to be turned away.  As mentioned on the rego form, it was a first in first served, in terms of bot hthe rego form filled out and money provided.

It will be another awesome year of competition with the favourites in the womens being GO Team featuring goal scoring machine and 2006 Sharp Shooter Rose Argent and Knockrow Ninjas hoping to go back to back.

In the mens it is a slightly different story with the top 2 teams failing to register in time.  Utah Wildcats seem the obvious favourite however For the Win could pull out a surprise.

Expect to see Sonya Krueger intrepid reporter scouring the lines for quality journailism and Betting agent Marcos Freeman to provide insight into each round.  Bluedog BBQ's will be providing quality refreshments and food from the canteen.   You can also pick up your scorecards from the canteen.  These must be filled out and provided to the ref prior to the start of each match.

Special thanks to Paul Hanigan and Glenn Hanigan for setting up the fields, Peter Barnett for the surveying of the fields, Richmond Waste and the Byron Shire Council for getting the goals to the fields and the Byron Soccer Club for providing extra goals.

HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
